Phonics based instruction

Sight Words In A Phonics Based Instruction

To fully develop your child's reading vocabulary, sight words should be taught along with Blending At The Beginning and in all phonics based instruction. In the English language, there are many rule exceptions. Sight words are those words that are exceptions to the sound/letter correspondence. Some of the common sight words are:
have      want
been     from
of          there
done     does
said      goes
says      here

These sight words need to be memorized as part of you phonics based instruction. You can begin by introducing a word at a time.  Do not move on until the previous word has been mastered.
